Columbusia #2
Me: I was really surprised when I saw the sketch at Weiden+Kennedy. What a specific audience for a comedy sketch, designers and marketing nerds.
Girl at Work: I dunno, it kinda sums up the whole 'cool company run by a bunch of young people.'
Me: Yeah, my business partner and I always saw we need to have a two story studio so we can install a slide and have 'Business Fridays' rather than 'causual Fridays.'

Me: Hey, have you seen Portlandia?
Girl at Work: Yeah, I love that show!
Me: I just started watching it last night on Netflix. It's pretty fucking funny. It's cool that Carrie Brownstein can rip on Portland and 'those kind of people.'
Girl at Work: Well, they are 'those kind of people'
Me: Are they? I didn't know Fred Armisen was from Portland.
Girl at work: I don't know if he is, but most of the people around here are like that.

anticapitalist:
When the left criticizes Ron paul or libertarianism in general, many libertarians pull the “Well Obama is EVEN worse” argument. Here’s one example I saw just now.
They set up this false dichotomy where you can’t hate both Ron Paul and Obama at the same time. If you…

We work for the Internet. And we’re guessing many of you do too. Whether it’s researching, selling, coding, supporting, designing — so many of our careers depend on the Internet.
One argument that’s been made to Congress is that the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is needed to protect American jobs. In truth, the new liabilities this bill would impose on startups could stop...

Ohio votes on new license plate slogans →
lavanguardia:
mayormccheese:
“17th state”
“1st traffic light”
“40,948 square miles”
Some of these are really bad. However, I love “Home of Astronauts” and the classic “The Heart of it All.”
Most of these aren’t even slogans - they’re people and things. “Inventors,” “Steel,” “Cy Young”? Lets just call it quits and go with “Home of Astronauts.”
I personally would love it if my license...

how come everyone forgets that THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT?
And if you don’t believe that you are the government then wouldn’t you think that things are far enough out of whack to be revolting?

no, they just decided to continue allowing schools to declare tomato paste (with dough and chesse) a serving of vegetables. So, semantically this article is correct … but it misses the point entirely.
