This is completely true. If people have the option to decide WHEN to have children it changes EVERYTHING we are capable of doing in the world. And that scares the shit out of republicans because it means old, white, cis-men aren’t going to have as much power as they used to. That’s why republicans don’t like people of color and would rather ignore systemic racism than try to fix it.

Rabble

I hate to do it, but I have to play devil’s advocate here. Please understand, I am totally not defending the position of these Republican candidates, simply pointing out a hole in the way we speak about these issues.

I guarantee any ‘conservative’ person who reads this argument is going to say: “It wouldn’t take away the ability to decide when and if to get pregnant, because you shouldn’t have sex unless you are trying to get pregnant.” Which really does make this argument about people wanting to have sex for fun without the worry of pregnancy. I’m all about having sex for pleasure, but I hope everyone understands why this argument doesn’t work.

when it comes to the “Govenrment should get out of my business” argument,

how come everyone forgets that THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT?

And if you don’t believe that you are the government then wouldn’t you think that things are far enough out of whack to be revolting?

This is so fucking funny. But also scary.

Anyway, seriously, can we put the ‘NPR is evil’ stuff to rest?

speaking of voting. Why do we use a simple majority rule vote in government elections? Or, more specifically, why do we use it and then wonder why there are only 2 parties?

(this may not be the best vote counting method, but) I think the Borda Count would be a good alternative. You get to rank the people you feel are most qualified and they get points assigned to their rankings: so, you put your Third candidate down as your first choice, and you put the republican or democrat down as your second choice and the person you like the least as your last choice, thus allowing you to vote for who you want to win, but your “best of two evils” still gets more points, so you don’t need to worry about “wasting” your vote on someone who “can’t win”

PROBLEM(S) SOLVED.

I mean, what are the elections? You know, two guys, same background, wealth, political influence, went to the same elite university, joined the same secret society where you’re trained to be a ruler - they both can run because they’re financed by the same corporate institutions. At the Democratic Convention, Barack Obama said, ‘only in this country, only in America, could someone like me appear here.’ Well, in some other countries, people much poorer than him would not only talk at the convention - they’d be elected president. Take Lula. The president of Brazil is a guy with a peasant background, a union organizer, never went to school, he’s the president of the second-biggest country in the hemisphere. Only in America? I mean, there they actually have elections where you can choose somebody from your own ranks. With different policies. That’s inconceivable in the United States.

a list of things the commentators for the Brazil v. North Korea World Cup match have said about N. Korea so far:

1) “… who is a Japanese player, we heard him saying earlier that he was amazing his North Korean teammates with a mobile phone, he said he was shocked to find out that they had never seen one before.”

2)”The North Korean team must not be used to having refrigerators or microwaves like they do in their hotel rooms for the games.”

3)”We’ve been told that they’re aren’t any true North Korean here in the stadium today, all of them are Chinese actors, who were payed to come tot he game and cheer for the North Korean team. I find any I could talk with to tell me if it were true or not.”
